'Wick'ed Candles

HAPPY NEW YEAR!


Welcome to our first blog post of 2019. The Adventure Service hopes you had a very Happy Christmas and a fabulous New Year.


To keep you cosy during the muggy month of January, why not make some natural candles? Follow the instructions below to find out how!


YOU WILL NEED:

  • Soft Rush (This usually grows in wet woodland, marshes, ditches and grasslands)

  • Lard

  • Pan (And a cooker/hob!)

  • Shells

  • Lighter/Matches

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Collect some soft rush.

2. Split the soft rush.

3. Take out the pith.

4. Use the pith as a wick, place them in the shells.

5. Melt some lard.

6. Pour the lard into the shells.

7. Light your candle and enjoy!
