We have been extremely busy here at The Adventure Service over the last few months, with keeping up with the latest guidelines, testing, organising this years Adult Short Break weekends and more importantly, recruitment! We have three new faces to introduce to you, some of you might know them already… But please meet Connor, Christina, and Lucy.
Hello Connor! Connor joined us in March 2021 as an Activity Support Worker. However, Connor had another interview with us a few weeks later, (Although he was already hired as an Activity Support Worker!) for Trainee Outdoor Instructor job and got the job. He is currently completing a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Adult Social Care with West Nottinghamshire College. This was a bit of a career change for Connor, who used to work in IT for Ashfield District Council. Before his days at ADC, Connor completed an Extended IT Diploma Level 3 at West Nottinghamshire College and attended Ashfield Comprehensive School before that. His additional training includes Additional IT Module Level 4 and MPQR First Aid Award Level 3, both completed with MRS Training and Rescue. Connor’s interests include the gym, fitness, and the outdoors.
Hello Christina! Christina also joined us in March 2021 as our Activity Support Worker and has quickly settled in. Like Connor, she will be completing a Level 2 qualification in Adult Social Care with West Nottinghamshire College. However, Christina isn’t short of qualifications! Prior to joining TAS she earned her Level 3 Diploma in Criminology, Level 3 Advanced GCE in Psychology, Level 2 and 3 Sports Leader and her Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. Along with this, Christina is also a trained boccia coach who went to Africa volunteering in a school. She would love to do this again! She also drives a super cute campervan and goes camping with her family every weekend along with her dog called Shankly.
Hello Lucy! Lucy joined us in the beginning of April 2021 as a Trainee Outdoor Instructor. Previously, Lucy has worked in multiple outdoor centres across the UK and Ireland as a residential support worker. Along with experience with a challenging client group, she takes a huge interested in the outdoors with a massive range of outdoor qualifications. Her qualifications include White Water Safety and Rescue, UKCC Level 2 Canoe and Kayak Award, BCU 3* Canoe Award, BCU 3* Kayak Award, BCU SUP Award, NVQ Level 2 in Outdoor Leadership, NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare, Level 3 Extended Diploma in Public Services, and ISA Level 2 Powerboat Award. (Wow!) Lucy’s interests include kayaking and watersports. She is planning on building her own campervan that she wants to travel and live in.
We are all excited about the future for these three at The Adventure Service.
