Annie delivers Safety Training

Updated: Sep 26, 2023

The first time I delivered the Safety Interventions Training to the team I was excited to put into practice what I had learnt after completing a very informative three day course to gain my licence.

Safety Interventions Training, which all staff are required to complete every year, ensures that all of our Adventurers are treated with respect by utilising a person-centred approach. This training also aids staff in supporting Adventurers to provide a better experience by looking at how individuals are supported in crisis and intervening as early as possible to prevent risk behaviour.

As a team we do this by looking for signs of anxiety and comforting the individual to remain calm. Delivering the programme for the first time was a nerve-wracking experience, having a large amount of context to cover with the added pressure of the importance of the training. However, having Terry (Director) by my side eased my nerves.

Alongside Terry, the staff I delivered the training to was very supportive and patient. Overall, it was a positive experience and I look forward to delivering it to the rest of the team.
